Brunching in Dresden

What do Dresdeners do on bad weather weekends?  – They breakfas all day! To be more precise: they brunch.

Not only the Neustadt, but also other Dresden city quarters offer a lot of places for the weekendish meet-and-greet buffet. Even the Dresden student union offered a student’s Sunday brunch with live music for a few years. It was attended so well that – probably for financial reasons – it was reduced to a regular lunch offer.

Here are our favorites of brunch offers in Dresden:

  • Scheune-Brunch – a classic among the Neustadt brunches. An unbelievable variety of dishes that seems to get even larger over the the morning. Whereas other restaurants simply restock, here new delicacies appear as soon as the first course was eaten up. It is worth every cent of the price of € 13,90 (unfortunately exclusive beverages).
  • Lingnerterrassen– there’s nothing like going out in style. If you ever wanted to have breakfast in a castle with a stunning view over Dresden, this is your p(a)lace. The selection of dishes is exclusive and not only will your tongue taste bread rolls and butter but also sweet and savoury details. Not exactly a bargain at € 15,99 but with a special offer for the little ones: € 1 for each up to 2 years of age. From 3 years on, € 1 for each year of life experience.

Brunch at Marché in the Dresden main station

  • Marché café at Dresden main station – “gourmet parfait”.  What may sound French to you, has won the title of “Best franchise restaurant in Dresden”. Warm dishes are being prepared before the eyes of the guest. Scrambled eggs come fresh from the frying pan along with ingredients on demand. If a walk is convenient between two courses, the busy train station offers plenty of distraction. Inside the restaurant, there are two children’s corners to play. Hot beverages and one juice are included in the price of € 19,90 (11am – 3pm; € 13,90 for early birds from 8am – 11am).
  • Bottom’s Up –  the low budget option. Right after the party folk have left, families and friends meet in the morning for extended chat. German classic breakfast consists of bread rolls, spreads and cheese and sausage salads accompanied by egg dishes, further salads, cake and many more. The food quality might be beaten by other places, the atmosphere certainly will not…and that is also true with the price of € 7,50 plus beverages.
